Circle of Zodiacs is a collection inspired by astrology. This collection is divided into 2 halfs: The Part and The Whole.
The Part
The Part, made from individual illustrations of each zodiac, is the first half of this collection. For each zodiac, I created an illustration 100% focused on its characteristics, with the inside of the head being the core of what each zodiac represents. The Part was materialised in posters (A5, A4 and A3) and in individual zodiac kits of stickers and postcards. The Part represents the individualism and uniqueness of each and every one of us.
The Whole
The Whole was born from the idea of community and represents the power of brotherhood. While The Part is about individual power, The Whole represents all those individual powers together creating a closed circle where everyone touches and shares the same space. The Whole is made of one illustration called Circle Of Zodiacs (also the name of the collection). Circle Of Zodiacs is screen printed by hand on hoodies, t-shirts and tote bags.
I chose apparel for this second part of the collection because that's the most shareable item we can have. While posters and stickers are mostly placed in static places, a t-shirt or a hoodie is something we bring and show in public without any worries - I like the idea of sharing a message so naturally and innocently just by choosing the clothes in the morning.
A bit of history
I started drawing the zodiacs back in 2020 when I made a calendar for the following year - 2021. The little creatures with an aquarium head started way before, during my years in university (but that's another story I will keep for a different post).
Back in 2020, I didn't have my iPad, so the zodiac calendar was mostly produced by hand.
In 2022 I had the idea of creating the Circle Of Zodiacs illustration. Since I was working again on the zodiacs I decided to improve and digitize the old illustrations from 2020.
Here are some of the first-ever drafts I did of the zodiacs. 👇
The calendar from 2021 looked like this 👇
That's all for now, see you! ✨
